Dirk Nowitzki is the man of the hour. Scratch that. He is the man of the NBA season. The Dirk has gone from soft choke artist to Finals MVP.

There was a time when it was popular to lob grenades of derision his way. He was the MVP that got bounced in the first round by the eight-seeded Warriors after all.


Now, that image is forever left in the files of forgotten lore, mixed in with Tiger Woods as a good guy, and Brett Favre as a Green Bay hero

He switched lady friends in the process, and that has made all the difference.

Nowitzki once took up with Cristal Taylor, a woman better suited as one half of a Maury Povich featured couple. She tried her best to hold onto her Mavericks star. She did so by pretending that she was pregnant with his love child. Got Crazy?

Nowitzki is onto bigger and better things. He has taken up with the ever sensible, and entirely gorgeous, Jessica Olsson. The sexy Swede has remained by his side throughout the playoffs.

I have to think that some of Dirk's guile and mastery comes from the love of a good woman. Granted, most of his prowess can be attributed to long hours in the gym. From a romantic perspective, I like to think that Olsson made all the difference.

If that's the case, Nowitzki better work hard to maintain this budding romance. The Mavericks could be looking at a bevy of rings with her by Nowitzki's side. Dare I listen for wedding bells? I dare. I dare indeed.
