Hornets' DaJuan Summers Makes Debut After Sitting Out First Eight Games With Knee Injury

"New Orleans Hornets forward DaJuan Summers made his debut on Monday night against the Denver Nuggets after sitting out the first eight games to recover from a hyperextended right knee.

The Hornets signed Summers, 6 feet 8, 240 pounds, last month after he was cut by Montespaschi Siena, a team in the Italian Professional League. Summers was drafted by the Detroit Pistons in the second round in the 2009 NBA draft but they didn't tender him a qualifying offer this past June.

Summers played 23 minutes against the Nuggets and scored four points, with three rebounds and two assists.

``I really didn't have any expectations of how I thought it would feel, but I know I was putting in a lot of hard work and I was ready,'' Summers said. ``I'm just trying to go out and work on the defensive things we worked on as a group.''"
