"Kevin Love, he's not just a rebounder anymore.
Not that he ever really was, but Love on Saturday night proved he has come a long way since his rookie season by winning the NBA All-Star three-point contest in a playoff against Oklahoma City smooth shooter Kevin Durant.
"You know, I'm a guy who loves to rebound the ball, a guy who loves to play inside," he said. "But for me, coming into the league, I was told not to shoot three-point shots. So to be where I am now, I think this definitely speaks to my versatility."
That rookie-season mention was a reference to Randy Wittman, who coached Love during his rookie season in 2008-09.
Love needed to put in extra work twice to take home a handsome trophy he said he will share first with Wolves assistant coach Terry Porter before he sends it home to Portland."
