NEW YORK, Feb 29 (Reuters) - With Jeremy Lin getting an assist from fellow point guard Baron Davis, the New York Knicks made good use of their new-found depth by overcoming the Cleveland Cavaliers 120-103 on Wednesday.
The Knicks trailed by as many as 17 points in the second quarter and were a dozen behind at intermission before getting a lift from their second wave of players, who helped carry the New Yorkers to a victory that leveled their record at 18-18.
Lin finished with 19 points, 13 assists and only one turnover, while Davis, who just recently returned after a back injury, contributed eight assists with most of them coming in the turnaround second half.
Long-range shooting specialist Steve Novak poured in five three-pointers in the second-half uprising and finished with 17 points in 18 minutes on the court.
The Knicks trailed 61-49 at the intermission but came out firing in the third quarter.
A 10-2 run brought New York within 63-59, and they went on to seize an 82-80 lead after three quarters before beating the Cavaliers by 17 points with their highest scoring total of the season.
“Getting a lot of guys healthy, a lot of guys coming back,” Novak, one of six Knicks players to score in double figures, told reporters. “We just need to come together so we can make a push for the playoffs.”
